MODULE 2 RADIO COMMUNICATION
- INSTRUCTIONAL OBJECTIVES
On completion of this module you must be able to:
- List the phonetic alphabet.
- Transmit and receive relevant radio message making use of the phonetic alphabet.
- Demonstrate the making and receiving of a collective call.
- Demonstrate how to make and receive a call when operating as a ‘relay station’.
- AIM
The aim of this module is to ensure that the security officers are able to communicate by radio and that they can take and deliver a message.
- Don’ts
- Never use abusive language over the radio,
- Don’t play music in the background
Do’s
- Keep the radio/control room secured.
- Treat radios as technical equipment and handle them with care to prevent damage
- Use the radio for the transmission of official messages only.

- WHEN YOU BOOK OUT A RADIO. YOU MUST CHECK THE FOLLOWING:
Antenna – Is in working order and firmly attached to the radio
Ø Battery – Is fully re-charged for the shift ahead
- On/off switch – The radio is switched on
Ø Volume – You can hear the radio messages
Ø Squelch – The radio do not make a noise
- Condition of radio – The radio is in good condition
Ø Channel – The radio is on the correct channel
